Postdoctoral Research Position in Political Ecology (70 – 80 %)

The Department of Geography at the University of Zurich is advertising a position as Postdoctoral researcher in the field of political ecology and conservation geography. The successful candidate will be part of the Space, Nature and Society research group, led by Norman Backhaus, that focuses on social and spatial aspects of nature conservation and landscape development. Our regional focus is in Europe/Switzerland and Asia.

Your responsibilities

Your main tasks include developing your independent research, contributing to our teaching program and participating in our regular research-related activities, as well as carrying out limited administrative duties.

Your profile

The successful candidate is expected to hold an excellent PhD degree in Human Geography, or other relevant social science disciplines engaged in political ecology. Applicants should demonstrate the willingness and ability to conduct internationally recognised and relevant research, have expertise in qualitative research methods and would ideally have experience in higher education teaching. Proficiency in English is an essential requirement, speaking German is an asset.

The wage is oriented at the standards of the University of Zurich. The position is for three years with possibilities for up to three years of extension.
